Kmart Shopping

I went on my first shopping trip to Kmart the other day and it was quite successful!  I went because they were doubling coupons $0.99 in value or lower for their Shop Your Way Rewards members (just make sure if you use this that the cashier scans your reward card first).  Here is how my trip turned out:

Soft Soap bottles - on sale for $1/bottle.  I had 4 $0.35 manufacturer coupons that were doubled to $0.70.  My total cost for 4 bottles was $.30/bottle.

Chef Boyardee cans - on sale for $1/can.  I had 4 $0.50 manufacturer coupons that were doubled to $1.  My total cost for 12 cans was $0.67/can.

Skintimate Shaving gel/cream - on sale for $1.99/can.  I had 1-$1 manufacturer coupons, 1-$1.50 manufacturer coupons and 1-$1 Kmart coupon.  My total cost for 3 cans was $0.82/can.

I also picked up 2 toys that will be used as future gifts for $1.99/toy.  The toys were originally clearanced at $9.99 then marked down to $3.99 and Kmart was taking an additional 50% off any clearance toys.  I will probably head back several times to keep finding more mark downs for incredible deals!!!

Walgreens
I had yet another shopping trip to Walmart and here is how it turned out:

Colgate toothpaste - on sale 10/$10.  I had 5-$0.50.  My total cost for 10 tubes was $.75/tube.  It wasn't spectacular as far as extreme couponing went but it's the best deal I've gotten so far on toothpaste.

L'Oreal Eversleek hair products - on sale for $5.99.  I had 5-$2 manufacturer coupons plus I received a $3 Register Reward for each purchase (had to do 5 separate transactions).  My total cost for 5 bottles was $0.99/bottle.

Scunci No Damage Elastic hair bands - on sale for $1.50 ea plus I received $3 in Register Rewards when I bought 2.  My total cost for 2 packages was FREE.

Irish Spring deodorant - on sale 2/$6.  I had 2-$1 manufacturer coupons plus I received $4 in Register Rewards when I bought 2.  My total cost for 2 deodorants was FREE.

I also scored some bags of M&Ms for $0.49/bag.  No extra deal here, just thought I would get them some treats!

2nd Couponing Trip

So, I went out tonight and had my 2nd extreme coupon shopping trip. It went good and bad. First, I realized that I didn't check some of my coupons closely enough and didn't get as great a deal on several things. Below is my shopping summary.

Walmart
Thought Dole Tropical Fruit cans would be $0.92/can but they were $1.66/can for large cans and $1.18/can for small cans. I had 3 coupons that were good for $1 off 2 cans. However, only 1 of the coupons worked since it was for cans and the other 2 were specifically for jars. I ended up spending $8.18 for 6 cans of tropical fruit. Not a good deal AT ALL!!!

Target
Target went much better than Walmart. I went there initially to pick up Dr. Scholls insole inserts & school supplies and found a good deal on fruit snacks.

Dr. Scholl inserts were on sale; 1 was $7.49 and the other was $8.99. I had a manufacturer coupon for $2 for each insert and I had a $5 Target gift card from a prior deal. If you bought 2, you received a $5 Target gift card. My total for the inserts was $3.74/insert

Walgreens
So, I had 4 separate transactions at Walgreens that went fairly well. I did forget 1 coupon but I guess it's not the end of the world.

1st transaction -
Gas-X - on sale for $4.99, used $2 Walgreens coupon and $1 manufacturer coupon: Total cost $1.99
Mitchum deodorant - on sale 2/$6 plus $4 Register Rewards, used 2 $1 coupons: Total cost $2 each
Schick Extreme Razors (3 pack) - on sale for $5.99 plus $2 Register Rewards, used $3 coupon: Total cost $2.99

2nd transaction -
Schick Extreme Razors (3 pack) - on sale for $5.99 plus $2 Register Rewards, used $3 coupon: Total cost $2.99

3rd transaction -
Schick Extreme Razors (3 pack) - on sale for $5.99 plus $2 Register Rewards, used $3 coupon: Total cost $2.99

4th transaction -
2 - Kraft Mac & Cheese Deluxe - on sale for $1.99/box
2 - Velveeta shells and cheese - on sale for $1.99/box
Neutrogena Wave refill pads - $6.99, used $2 manufacturer coupon
Zest 3 pack of soap - $2.79, used $1 manufacturer coupon
2 - Chex Mix Sweet and Salty 8.75 oz snacks - on sale 2/$3, used 2 $0.50 manufacturer coupons
Also used: 3 - $2 Register Rewards from razor purchases, $4 Register Rewards for deodorant.
Total cost of all items: $7.74

Tomorrow I hope to pick up 4 free chocolate bars from Walgreens and a tube of GenTeal lubricant drops that are normally $10.99 but I will use a $5 Walgreens coupon and a $1.50 manufacturer coupon making the total cost for the tube $4.49 which is a heck of a deal for this item!!!

First Shopping Experience

Well, I finally got my coupon binder together minus the card holder pages. I thought I found them at Walmart but when I got home, I realized I bought individual sleeves and not pages with multiple sleeves that could be placed in my binder. I finally found what I needed at Target and can now sort and store my coupons the right way!

I also put together my first shopping list and ventured out to Target and Walgreens. Here is how my shopping experience went:

Target:
- Neutrogena Wave Sonic face cleanser $9 (normally $16.99, on sale for $13 plus I had a $3
manufactuer's coupon and a $1 Target Neutrogena coupon)
- Neutrogena Alcohol Free Toner $5.49 (normally $6.49 but I had a $1 Target Neutrogena coupon)
- Neutrogena Lip Balm $2.99
Overall I spent $17.48 for all 3 items and I got a $5 giftcard from Target with their Neutrogena promotion.

- Mens blue jeans $3.98 ea (on clearance for $6.98 plus I had a $3 Target coupon for denim)
- 2 pack of Sharpie permanent markers $0 (on sale for $1 and I had a $1 Target Sharpie coupon)
- 10 count Ballpoint pens $0 (on sale for $1 and I had a $1 Target Ballpoint coupon)

Walgreens 1st Transaction:
- Infusium 23 Shampoo $4.99 (on sale for $5.99, I had a $1 manufacturer coupon and I got $4 in Register Rewards (RR))
- GUM dental floss $2 (on sale for $2 and I got $2 in Register Rewards)

Walgreens 2nd Transaction:
- Infusium 23 Conditioner $0.99 (on sale for $5.99, I had a $1 manufacturer coupon and I used the $4 RR)
- GUM dental floss $0 (on sale for $2 and I used the $2 RR)
- Blistex lip balm $0.99 (bought this since I had 3 coupons and only 2 items orginally, need to have as many items as you have coupons at Walgreens)

All in all, it was a GREAT first experience and I can't wait to plan my next purchases tomorrow night!!!!

Day 2

Well, I did not get my binder and plastic holders as I had planned to on my way home from work. I was exhaused from the weekend with too many late nights and way too many early mornings. The plan is to get them tonight and begin the mighty binder.

I have to say that even though I've only just begun researching, I already find myself looking at prices of items and wondering how good they are and how much cheaper I could get them. I'm also looking at the check out people at my grocery store and wondering how well they will handle it when I start my extreme couponing. Guess I'll find out soon enough.

After I get my binder completed and the coupons I've already printed into the right places, I plan on printing more. Then I will be buying my first 4-6 Sunday papers this Sunday, hopefully. Let's hope I'm organized enough to handle this :-)

Day 1....kind of

So, after watching "Extreme Couponing" on TLC, I've decided that it wouldn't hurt to get a little extreme myself. The economy is starting to pinch many purses and my family and I are definitely starting to feel it. What better way to help lighten the financial burden than to save a ton of money on groceries, right? I mean, it can't be that hard to become an extreme couponer, right? Well, I'm hoping not, but after some light research it might be slightly more difficult than I thought.

I think I've found my extreme couponing answer, though, in The Krazy Coupon Lady (http://thekrazycouponlady.com/). This web site is AMAZING and has TONS of information for a beginner like me. I've also discovered there's a book which is even more helpful and I will be purchasing it VERY soon.

So, my first day was actually yesterday and I spent a lot of time finding online coupons and reading her information and printing out her binder template (all 41 pages). It was a little overwhelming but exciting at the same time. On the agenda today is to pick up a binder and some baseball card holder plastic pages for my coupons and begin to assemble my extreme coupon binder!!! Of course, this will need to be done as inexpensively as possible since I'm trying to save money :-)
